Changing blogging domain and site

Dear blogger friends, Lately, I had a few problems with the Blogger web site for my blog The Content Reader . I took this as a sign that I should finally create a web site of my own. I have been checking out other options, but could not get my act together. Finally, I have managed to create a basic web site with Wix, which I hope will be developed over time.  It has not been easy to find my way around. Advent Calendar, box no. 13 - Sankta Lucia

To blog and talk about Sankta Lucia, or Saint Lucy's Day as it is called in English, today is almost compulsory in Sweden.  It is mostly celebrated in Scandinavia and in Sweden it is an old, important tradition. The story is that Lucia was a 3rd century martyr who according to legend brought "food and aid to Christians hiding in the catacombs". Since her hands were busy carrying things she lighted her way by putting a candle-lit wreath on her head. This is how it is done today, although she does not bring food, but maybe our special Christmas treats, 'saffransbullar och pepparkakor' and, of course, the special songs.

I guess we enjoy it still today, because it is a light in this dark time of the year. Here is a short video from the Zorn house in Mora, which shows the tradition (from Youtube).

I am not a professor in literature, but I would like to be. Unfortunately, this will never happen, so, I have to go along trying to read novels and literature like a professor. Thomas C. Foster's book is therefor a very useful tool. He has also written How To Read Literature Like A Professor , which sounds like another useful read. It is not only a book for readers. I would say it is also useful for aspring writers. How do you make a novel interesting? What does it have to contain? Who should be the narrator and what should he/she do? The content gives a hint on what makes up a good book.  Pickup Lines and Open(ing) Seductions, or Why Novels Have First Pages - are we not fascinated by how certain writers manage to hook you on the first sentence?
